Grandma Stories and Beginning Kayaking

GranmaSue

The children and grandchildren want to know some of the “grandma” stories I have tucked inside of me. I live in a retirement community away from all family and I would like to start a blog to tell my stories.  I am  shy about posting this worldwide because I do not know who will read this page…who would want to anyway??  Maybe if I send out my blog address to all my family and say, “Read my blog.” they will rush right over and start reading.  My initial blog in December said, “Hello World,” which I deleted.  That is as far as I have gone with my writing.  I must hurry and get on with  it!  Also, on my birthday next January, I will be 70.  WOW!  So I better get busy doing a lot of things I haven’t done because I do not have much time left.  That is why I am here. I want to talk about  my desire start kayaking.  Some say I do not need to be doing that at my age.  I have ordered two sit-on-top fishing kayaks for me and my husband.  We are expecting delivery in about 2 weeks.   While I am waiting for the kayaks to be delivered, we need advice for people our age who are just now starting to kayak.

Well, let’s hear some Grannie stories. If they are good, I’ll use them in my Grandpa stories if I ever start a blog. LYBTHS

What a wonderful idea. I love your stories and hope to hear more. As far as the kayaking goes I think that it is a safe and fun sport. Staying active is so important and doing this while enjoying nature makes it even more fun. I hope to take you out in the kayaks on the Potomac while you are here visiting us in August. I share your mindset myself, while I reach a milestone birthday this year myself ‘50′.

    Hey Grandma Sue,
So you’re gonna be a writer??? YAHOO! It is not all it is “cracked up to be!” but it IS good therapy and you will enjoy it and gain strength….then the kayaking won’t be so hard! Love you. Good luck and loving hugs to you always. Juanita

This is really neat. Have never started a blog. We have a family web site which my whole family writes letters and puts photographs on it. Its a great way to keep in touch with family.

WOW! Starting to Kayak at our age is great! It sounds like you sit on top of it instead of sitting down in it. Is that right?

Sharon, This is a sit-on-top kayak. We tried out both kinds of kayaks, sit inside and sit-on-top. By far the sit-on-top is the best kind for us. Appreciate your comments. Sue

Good luck with the kayaking. I hope you kids get the hang of it. Sounds like fun. I like the colors on your blog page too – I dont think it’s too pink and I like the flowers. We love you!
